In this episode we reveal our carefully crafted theology: a musical trinity containing The Beat (The Father: rhythm), The Funk (The Holy Spirit: groove) and The Rock (The Son: the riff).
Turner and Jon amazingly agree on what album was the best one of the previous year: Open Your Heart by The Men.

In our first non-scavenger hunt episode we'll go through it track by track and discuss how it succeeds and fails on the themes we've focused on in other TEP episodes: sequencing, lyrics, surprises, musical careers and influences and more.

As a bonus, here's a word cloud of the lyrics of the album:

On an administrative note, The Eternal Playlist has been updated until this point based on when episodes are finished editing. This meant that you'd get a cluster of three episodes at once and then maybe nothing for a couple weeks (or months in this particular case). No longer! We're now on a set schedule: one episode per week, no more and no less. We've also got a few new weekly features coming soon. Stay tuned.

Resources:

Some guy named Fuzzy Material has posted the entire album, song by song, on YouTube. I'm sure this will be taken down eventually, but until then here's a 'try before you buy' way of listening to the album.

And here are the lyrics to the album (some of them may be slightly wrong, but it's the best set I've found so far)

Jon and I are constantly making reference to the numbers of prompts and telling everyone to do their own scavenger hunt. Well I never want to let anybody down, so here it is:
The Master List!

This will be updated from time to time as the number of prompts grows.

As you can see the prompts are arranged in a totally nonsensical order - #1 has nothing to do with #2 and so on. That's because we just kept adding more and more categories and never tried to group them in any sensible way until I came up with the idea of doing just a few songs per episode. You'll notice that our prompts get more intricate as we go on, mainly because we've used up most of the obvious good ones.Turner and Jon Scavenger Hunthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02565195229306828349noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495172414364049268.post-45638291773931328842012-11-01T19:56:00.000-04:002012-11-02T14:47:18.459-04:00This is a test post, to test the posting.
Hello World!

...And so a brand new baby blog is born! Welcome one and all.

We are Turner and Jon Scavenger Hunt, a duo of professional music lovers and strictly non-professional music critics. We're here to share our opinions on the marketplace of ideas so that you, the listener, can disagree with them.

Some Logistics:

Schedule: There is no schedule. New episodes come out whenever I record and finish them, which probably means in groups of two or three at a time.

Legal: All clips of songs in the podcasts are property of their respective owners. Turner and Jon own only their own voices. Because we are doing critical analysis of the songs featured, the clips of copyrighted material we use come under the Fair Use exception.

Copyright: All episodes are under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license. This means:

You may remix, edit or repost any episode so long as you attribute the original to us

You may NOT use any remix, edit, repost etc. for commercial purposes

Any work derived from any of our episodes must be distributed under the same Creative Commons license that we used
